After several rounds of frantic and exciting men's college basketball, 16 of the finest college hoops programs in the country will duke it out on Friday for the right to secure a spot in the Elite 8 and move another step closer to claiming the National Championship.

The Sweet 16 has arrived loaded with interesting storylines. The Midwest Regional will feature two classic men's basketball rivalries with the University of Kentucky Wildcats taking on intra-state rival University of Louisville Cardinals while the University of Tennessee Volunteers facing University of Michigan Wolverines.

Tennessee vs. Michigan
This is battle between two solid basketball programs. The Volunteers punched their way to the round-of-16 despite starting the tournament earlier than everyone else in the First Four tournament. Meanwhile, the Wolverines dispatched their first two opponents in convincing fashion and are knocking on the door once again to advance to the Elite Eight.

Volunteers head coach Cuonzo Martin, who played with former NBA All-Star Glenn Robinson, is looking forward to playing against the son of his former friend, whom he tried to recruit a few years ago.

"I'm happy for him and it will be fun playing against him," Martin said Thursday on ESPN. "Of course, we'd like to get the win, but I'm happy to see where he's come, how far he's come as a basketball player. He's a great kid."

Robinson III is averaging 13.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in his sophomore season for Michigan. But the Wolverines offer a bevy of weapons that can hurt their opponents in the paint or from the perimeter. Guard Nik Stauskas leads the team in scoring at 17 ppg, while Mitch McGary is their primary rebounder at 8.3 rpg.

Volunteers will have senior guard Jordan McRae and forward Jarnell Stokes to carry the load for the team, who wishes to be the second First Four squad to go all the way to the Final Four.

Louisville vs. Kentucky
In the battle between the last two NCAA Men's Basketball champions, bad blood will spill all over in Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday.

Rick Pitino's gritty veterans will once again slug it out with John Calipari's young guns in a match that could shape the entire tournament.

The Cardinals are expected to lean heavily on two of their most trusted veterans, as Russ Smith and Luke Hancock try to end their college basketball careers with a bang.

The Wildcats are also preparing for an up-and-down matchup in their Regional Semis. Double-double machine Julius Randle will lead a team consisting mostly of freshmen, who showed maturity with their wins against the previously undefeated and No. 1 seed Wichita State Shockers in the third round.
