Ever since "Gossip Girl" ended its 5-year-run, actress Leighton Meester has been kept busy by her various showbiz commitments. Whether it's a pop-influenced rock album, another hit movie, or her Broadway debut in "Of Mice and Men," the 28-year old brunette beauty has been in it.
When asked by Nylon about what she thinks of "Gossip Girl", Meester revealed that she felt like she was outgrowing the hit series.
"I started the show when I was so young, and once it was over, I wanted to do things that were more exciting and challenging and more me-more my adult taste. Of course, that's said with nothing but gratitude and love for that experience in that time of my life," Meester told Nylon November issue.
So it's safe to say that Meester's role in her new movie, "Life Partners", is nothing like her character Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl."
"As far as scripts go, the roles of women standing alone on their own as whole, real, full people are few and far between. So with both of those roles [Life Partners and Like Sunday, Like Rain], what I loved is that neither of them are centered around romantic relationships. They're flawed, real human beings that I could bread down and really enjoy playing. They're like me, in a way," Meester tells Nylon.
The comedy film "Life Partners" will debut on November 6 and will star the actress and her 43-year old husband actor Adam Brody along with Gillian Jacobs. This is the second time that Meester will work in a film alongside her husband; the first is the 2011 romantic comedy "The Oranges."
According to Daily Mail, "Life Partners" is about "two codependent best friends -- one straight girl, one lesbian -- and the man who comes between them." Meester will play as the lesbian character while Jacobs is the environmental lawyer who meets Brody's character via online dating.
But how does the actress feel about starring in a movie opposite her husband? "There wasn't time to ask if we wanted to do this together. I was reading the script. I loved the part and loved the movie," Meester tells Daily Mail.
"I was going to the meeting that day and he called me and said, 'They offered me this role,'" the actress adds.
It really looks like that Meester is following "Gossip Girl" pregnant co-star Blake Lively in her footsteps, who has married actor Ryan Reynolds. But is the actress ready to expand her family with Brody? Meester hinted on her Nylon cover that having children is probably next for her and her husband.
"Most people I know are starting to get married. It'll be kids next. I like the grown-up stuff. I like having a house. I've got dogs," the actress revealed, as cited by Nylon.
Meester and Brody got married last February in a secret wedding ceremony after just a year of dating, according to Us Weekly.
