McRib lovers might want to think twice before pigging out on McDonald's limited-time pork sandwich.

Just when the coveted pork patty made a return to select McDonald's menus, a less than appetizing photo of the McRib has gone viral. The photo, which was published on Reddit, shows "raw McRib meat" before it's slathered in barbecue sauce and placed on a bun.

However, if that's not enough to deter you from buying the pork burger, then Gotham's "Can You Handle The Truth About Your Beloved McRib?" just may do the trick.  According to Gotham, the McRib is composed of 70 ingredients. The bun, alone, makes up 34 of those ingredients which includes additives like Ammonium Sulfate, a kind of salt commonly found in soil fertilizers, and azodicarbonamide, a flour-bleaching agent that is commonly used to manufacture foamed plastics like gym mats and shoe soles.

Plus, Maxim reports that there is "very little actual rib meat in a McRib" sandwich. "Primarily, it's shoulder meat," said Rob Cannell, director of McDonald's U.S. supply chain. However, a University of Nebraska study stated that it's really made out of restructured pig innards coated in salt, specifically tripe, heart, and scalded stomachs.  

In response to the pic, a McDonald's rep told the Huffington Post that "One reason our customers love the McRib is its fun and wonderful shape. Just like a burger patty is formed to be round and flat, we form the iconic McRib in the shape of traditional ribs. We then flash freeze the patty to seal in flavor and freshness, just like you freeze meat in your own freezer, before going to our restaurants."
