Taylor Swift, known for her songs about people close to her heart, released the official track listing of her new 13-song album, "1989", on her Instagram account.
The album will drop on October 27 and so far, fans have already heard the released songs, "Shake It Off," "Out of the Woods," "Style," and album opener, "Welcome to New York."
As stated on MTV, all of the songs that the singer teased on her Rolling Stone magazine cover story have been included in the album.
"'All You Had to Do Was Stay' is about a commitment-phobic lover (the RS feature suggested Taylor's ex, Harry Styles), and 'I Wish You Would' centers on a former flame who buys a home mere blocks from Swift's own (again, the mag pointed to the One Direction member,)" MTV added.
Swift claimed that the two songs are "wistful and nostalgic" in tone, according to a report from Daily Mail. The 24-year old singer also claimed that there are no "diss" songs in her fifth studio album; three of the tracks, however, are about an ex-boyfriend. She also said that the album is a "rebirth", featuring a new music style different than her previous albums.
"We made the most sonically cohesive album I've ever made. I woke up every day ... not wanting, but needing to make a new style of music than I made before," Swift stated, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Most controversial track?
MTV added that the most anticipated song of the album is probably "Bad Blood," which is about another unnamed female artist who Swift claimed, "tried to sabotage [her] entire arena tour" by discreetly hiring performers from Swift's camp. They are now "straight-up enemies."
Rumor mongers claimed that this female artist is Katy Perry, who tweeted a suspicious message last month saying, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..." referring to the main villain in the movie "Mean Girls" which was played by Rachel McAdams.
A departure from Country Music
Over the years, it is noticeable how Swift's music transitioned from country to pop. It was more evident in her "1989" album, which, according to NY Times, is a definitive break from country music. However, Mark Razz, a music director at country station WXTU-FM in Philadelphia, said that they are proud of the singer.
"You're there for them along the way, and then they need to go to what they are going to do. She's gotten to where she is through country music, and if she goes on to be the next pop sensation around the world, we are behind her 100 percent," Razz reportedly said.
