The legendary director of "The Terminator" James Cameron expressed his interest in the upcoming 2015 film "Terminator: Genisys," but directly spoke that the franchise is no longer his business.

In an interview with Empire, Cameron said, "It's not my problem! It's like being a grandparent, the kids come over and you can send them back!"

The interview happened at the 30^th anniversary event of "The Terminator" at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Cameron knew the people behind the sequel, such as writer Laeta Kalogridis who has worked with him on projects. Cinema Blend reported that Kalogridis has specifically worked as executive producer for the 2009 sci-fi film "Avatar," which Cameron has directed.

Although the long-time director of the cyborg universe is no longer part of Alan Taylor's 2015 reboot, Cameron seemed delighted about the sequel, "I'm hoping it's great. I'd like them to get it right, and based on the script that I read there's a pretty good chance that it could. It looks like it could be fun."

Is he totally over with it?

Not quite, because Cameron seemed to be very much involved -- but only for Arnold Schwarzenegger's part. He said via Deadline, "I wasn't interested in producing it or working on it actively, but I did want to put in a good word for Arnold."

He spoke with producer David Ellison and explained how Arnold's character may be incorporated in the story. He pointed out that the external covering of the Terminator was not synthetic and will inevitably age. He advised that a Terminator may be sent back to the past, where it lived all along with the society.

"Because he is a learning computer and has a brain as a central processor he could actually become more human as he went along without getting discovered," Cameron said.

Meanwhile, Screen Rant suggested that the alternate spelling "Genisys" may have been derived from a high-tech manufacturing corporation. Alternatively, it could have stemmed from writers Laeta Kalogridis' and Patrick Lussier's manipulation of events in time.

"Terminator: Genisys" has finished filming, as announced by Arnold on Facebook. The T-800 machine actor wrote, "Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of 'Terminator Genisys' for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding." He expressed his gratitude to everybody behind the project.

Along with Arnold, Movienewz listed Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt and Matt Smith as part of the cast.  

"Terminator: Genisys" is slated to premiere on July 1, 2015 in U.S. theaters.
