Should users nab at Apple's flagship device or wait until the Samsung Galaxy S6 release date?
Rumors suggest a 2015 launch and release for the South Korean tech giant's flagship device. Ordoh notes a March or April timeline for the much-anticipated smartphone.
But just how does the S6 square off with the iPhone 6, according to speculated specs, features and price? See a comparison below.
Body and Make
Master Herald claims that Samsung is doing away with plastic -- per consumer demand. "The Samsung Galaxy S6 will feature a fully metallic body, something close to the Alpha," said the outlet. The iPhone 6 boasts of "a smooth metal surface" and measures 6.9mm thin. No news on how thin Samsung will go on the S6 but Ordoh notes that the Galaxy Alpha comes in at 6.7mm.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumored to sport display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution, said Value Walk. "It seems likely then that the Galaxy S6 will be an ultra HD device, and may possibly even include a 4K screen," added the outlet.
As for the size, Ordoh said that Samsung has upped the S5's screen to 5.1 inches from the 5-inch Samsung Galaxy S4. Should the company do the same with the S6, its screen could measure 5.2 inches -- compared to the iPhone 6's 4.7 inches at 750 x 1334 pixels Retina HD display.
Camera
Ordoh is betting on a 20MP snapper for Samsung's next generation flagship device. "There is a possibility that Samsung will be hard pressed to choose between Optical image stabilization and thickness of the handset. If the company decides to go slim, it might be possible to ditch the OIS," the report explained.
Apple's latest 4.7-inch iPhone comes with an 8MP camera with phase detection autofocus and dual-tone flash on its rear. Up front is a 1.2MP snapper.
Battery
The iPhone 6 ships with a non-removable Li-Po 1810 mAh battery, per GSM Arena. It reportedly lasts users up to 250 hours on standby, 14 hours of talk and music playing for up to 50 hours, said the outlet.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will most likely come with an upgraded battery, notes Value Walk, adding:
"...given the fact that the Galaxy S6 will in all probability feature a higher resolution display and quite possibly a larger screen than its predecessor, it seems almost certain that the 2800mAh battery included in the Galaxy S5 will be significantly upgraded."
Features
Apple has packed its Touch ID technology onto the iPhone 6 -- letting users access their phones "securely" through their fingerprints. Apple Pay is also coming to iPhone 6 users this month -- bringing cashless payments right at their fingertips.
The S6, on the other hand, is rumored to launch with a fingerprint scanner as well. However, as if taking biometrics to a whole new level, the smartphone is also speculated to come with a retina scanner, noted Tech Radar. Features on the S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 such as the heart rate monitor, fast charging, UV sensor and others are also believed to be made available on the S6.
Price
The 4.7-inch 16GB iPhone is priced at $199 with a 2-year contract, $649 without. According to Ordoh, price for the Samsung Galaxy S6 could be at least "close to $900" -- the same price for the S5. "However, some sources indicate that due to the improved performances, specs and features, the S6 might go as high as $1000," the outlet adds.
Do you think the S6 will be worth the wait?
