A new report on the incident involving the F1 racer said that his head injuries might have been caused by a GoPro camera he was wearing while skiing in the French Alps last December.

A Metro report quoted F1 commentator Jean-Louis Moncet saying that Schumacher's son, Mick, provided the recent development on his father's case.

"The problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the Go-Pro camera that he had on his helmet that injured his brain," Moncet said in the Metro article.

The French journalist said that he met with the racer's son who told him that Schumacher is "waking up very slowly; very slowly."

He added that he is hoping the racer soon recovers from his injuries. Doctors noted that he has a great chance of recovery considering the developments on his condition for the past months.

Telegraph discussed that experts who conducted tests on the impact of the accident said that the helmet "completely broke."

"It was in at least two parts. ENSA analyzed the piece of the helmet to check the material, and all was OK," the Telegraph source noted.

It was further noted that the explosion of the helment could be attributed to the camera attached to it which could have weakened its structure.

Though reports like this have surfaced, ABC said that there is still no confirmation from investigators. The report noted that it is the first time the GoPro has been linked with a paralyzing accident -- causing its shares to plummet in a day.

According to 100 Doors managing partner Peter Esho, the shares of the camera closed down at 9.9. percent and has been down for as much as 14 percent throughout a session.

"This is a business that's still valued at just under $US10 billion. It's been a bit of a market darling throughout the year. It's more than tripled since coming onto the market, but overnight that news was enough to see it down," Esho told ABC.

No comments from GoPro are available as of this time but according to Independent, the company spokesperson Jeff Brown said that they are still studying and verifying the said reports before issuing any statement.

With this latest development, ABC said that neurosurgeon Paul D'Urso from Melbourne's Epworth Hospital has warned people to take precaution in the modifications they make in sports equipment.

"Any modification of a helmet potentially is going to cause unpredictable results, particularly if there's a traumatic impact on the helmet. Often we see people, particularly cyclists who might fall from a bicycle, usually the helmets perform very well. It's not something we've seen a lot of with cameras attached to them," the doctor told ABC.
