Jim Carrey is scheduled to host "Saturday Night Live" on its October 25 episode, reports Deadline.
Carrey last hosted "SNL" back in 2011, but he first hosted the show in 1996, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly.
Back in the early '80s, Carrey auditioned to become one of the cast members of "SNL", says Inquisitr. Unfortunately, he was rejected, but was asked to host the show in 1996.
This isn't Carrey's first time dabbling in sketch comedy, adds Entertainment Weekly. Carrey starred in the sketch comedy show "In Living Color" on Fox Network back in the early '90s. Since his success in the TV show, Carrey gained stardom through his movies such as "The Mask", "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", and "Liar Liar". The actor also won two Golden Globe awards for his performance on movies "The Truman Show" and "Man on the Moon". He has a total of six Golden Globe nominations for his work both in comedy and drama.
The comic actor will host "SNL" just in time to promote his upcoming buddy comedy movie "Dumb and Dumber To" which was set to release on theaters on November 14. The film is a sequel to 1994's "Dumb and Dumber" which he co-starred with actor Jeff Daniels.
Released 20 years after the original, the sequel continues the story of two best friends and dimwits Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels) on their search for one of their long lost children in the hope of obtaining a new kidney.
Carrey and Daniels will be joined by fellow actors Laurie Holden (the film's antagonist), Kathleen Turner, and Rob Riggle. Jennifer Lawrence will make a cameo in the film.
Inquisitr reports that Carrey expressed interest on making a sequel for "Dumb and Dumber" when he saw the film in his hotel room on one of his travels. His request for a sequel was granted by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the brothers who wrote and directed the original movie.
Prior to filming "Dumb and Dumber To", Carrey had a cameo appearance as Canadian news anchor Scott Riles on comedy film "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" which starred "SNL" alumni Will Ferrell.
