Battlefield 4 is now available for fans to play through on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and already millions of gamers are enjoying the epic firefights found within both the single player and multiplayer portions of the game.

During these epic encounters, it is easy to miss some of the easter eggs and secrets that DICE has hidden in the game, so here is a helpful guide for those looking for all the inside jokes and other surprises in Battlefield 4.

One of the more subtle easter eggs in the game is a node to past projects DICE has worked on. In some of the bars in the game the bottles are labeled with titles such as Frostbite 2 and 1942, referencing the old physics engine for the series as well as one of the first Battlefield games. In the second mission of the game, another DICE game, Mirror's Edge, is mentioned, as the televisions run a program mentioning the game's protagonist, Faith,

The shipping boxes found in the game have some references to the companies that made Battlefield 4. Many boxes are labeled "ECID Shipping" or "Visceral EA," which reference both developer DICE as well as publisher EA Games.

A long running joke among Battlefield fans is that the game will have a mode that involves dinosaurs in some way. DICE added a reference to this in the game during the Shanghai mission. In the first cutscene for the mission a dinosaur decoration is hanging off of the rear view mirror of the car, which may be as close as Battlefield gets to adding dinosaurs into the series.

Also in the Shanghai mission, there is some hidden dialog that can play out. If players wait to call on the elevator, a conversation between Irish and Pac will begin involving fortune cookies and some less wholesome topics.

In the Tashgar mission, players will encounter a group of soldiers. If players stick around long enough they will begin quoting dialog from the Machinima series "Battlefield Friends," which is a spoof of the franchise.

Finally, players have a chance to find some literal easter eggs hidden in the game. In the Flood Zone multiplayer map, players can find easter eggs and easter baskets on the roof and in the sheds near the middle of the map. Sadly, these eggs cannot be used as weapons and cannot be thrown at enemies.
