The next MacBook Pro will allegedly not make it to the upcoming Oct. 16th Apple event.
According to KDrama Stars, the upgraded laptop will be launching on December 25, 2014 instead. With the much-awaited Apple event on the 16th which is believed to highlight the tech giant's OS X Yosemite, MacBook line users are already at the edge of their seats in anticipation for an upgrade.
Perhaps not the MacBook Pro users, though. The MacBook Pro line has been upgraded a couple of months back. The new version of the device now sports the touted Retina display which brings to users 2560 by 1600 resolution on the 13-inch notebook and 2880 by 1800 resolution on the larger 15-inch version.
The new MacBook Pro Retina also boasts of the following specs and features:
- fourth-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors
- Iris and Iris Pro graphics
- long-lasting battery (up to 9 hours for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 8 hours for the 15-inch MacBook Pro)
- incredibly fast PCle-based flash storage
- 802.11ac Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology
- two Thunderbolt 2 ports, two USB 3 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone port
- Multi-Touch trackpad
- backlit keyboard
With all those already integrated onto the current generation MacBook Pro Retina, one might ask: what else will Apple improve on in the notebook's alleged newer version?
Christian Today claims that according to rumors, the new MaBook Pro 2014 launching on Christmas day will come with "a touchscreen feature and better battery capacity."
It isn't clear whether the next MacBook Pro 2014 will have the entire display sporting touchscreen technology but clearly, this isn't a first when it comes to laptops. Also known as hybrid laptops, these flexible devices can be a notebook or a tablet, depending on the user's preference.
Some hybrid laptops already available in the market today are the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T, the Razer Edge gaming device, the HP Spectre 13t-h200 x2 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2.
Gossip Herald adds that the new MacBook Pro will also have "a slimmer profile." As for the price, the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2014 will allegedly be "cheaper" even though it is "high-end."
Prices for the current MacBook Pro Retina are as follows:
13-inch: 2.6GHz (128GB PCIe-based flash storage) at $1,299.00
2.6GHz (256GB PCIe-based flash storage) at $1,499.00
2.8GHz at $1,799.00
15-inch: 2.2GHz at $1,999.00
2.5GHz at $2,499.00
