The month of October marks the start of a new NBA preseason and a chance for the teams to assess how they will be able to perform during the real games of the upcoming season.

A Bleacher Report article said the preseason games will also focus on what the rookies can do for their team early in the competition and what the team can expect from them.

As for the matchup of the Washington Wizards versus the New Orleans Pelicans, the Wizards sealed a 94-89 win in what was considered by Wiz of Awes as a sloppy game for the victors.

John Wall was able to score 14 points to lead his team's victory while Bradley Beal added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the game.

Certainly, teams are starting to gauge what they can do and what areas they should improve on in the upcoming NBA season.

Bleacher Report added that this is also the perfect time for Andrew Wiggins to live up to his being the No. 1 Draft pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers who was later on traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.

"He's in a situation where all eyes will be on him, though that doesn't necessarily do him any favors," the Bleacher Report noted.

It also said that Wiggins is expected to show his shooting prowess in helping the team gain its momentum. He is known to be a great shooter as he recorded 17-for-42 in four games when he was still in college. Bleacher Report said he also averaged 15.5 points per game.
