Bravo announced on Wednesday, Oct. 1, that "Real Housewives of Atlanta" is back for Season 7 -- but Porsha Williams is no longer part of the main cast.
However, she won't be out of the show forever. Instead, she will take a recurring role.
Kenya Moore, Williams' co-star and real-life adversary, is back with a leading storyline. US Magazine cited the vicious brawl that occurred between the two in Season 6's reunion when Moore called Williams "dumb" over the megaphone. This resulted to Williams dragging Moore across the floor.
The feud allegedly started when Moore made harsh comments about Williams' ex-husband Kordell Stewart. Christian Today added that Williams was requested by host Andy Cohen to leave the filming of the episode.
And now, it seems like the feuding tandem won't be seeing each other that much.
Williams told People, "After a long season of filming, and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from 'Housewife Status,' but would remain on the show in a 'Friend' capacity." She expressed that she can only be herself, and that portraying anything else would not be genuine or honest.
Meanwhile, four original housewives would remain in the cast. NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Phaedra Parks, and Cynthia Bailey will all be returning, alongside Kenya.
But the fun doesn't end there as newcomers are definitely stirring up the new season. Kenya's reportedly close buddy, Claudia Jordan, is set to take a role. On the other hand, Demetria McKinney will take a recurring character, just like Williams.
Lead star NeNe Leakes has teased about leaving the series every off-season, reported The Hollywood Gossip, but she ultimately ends up coming back. The site's source hinted one possible reason: salary.
And for the upcoming 7th season, Leakes is poised to have a record-breaking haul from the network. Apparently, she will be earning $1.5 million - which makes her the highest-paid Bravo reality star. An unnamed source told The Hollywood Gossip, "She is the most popular housewife of any of the Bravo franchises... Without NeNe, RHOA wouldn't be the ratings blockbuster that it continues to be."
NeNe earlier said, "You know what, the pay is okay, but I don't know if it's worth what you saw on the clip. I began this so many years ago with other girls. And I'm the only original that's left."
"Real Housewives of Atlanta" season 7 premieres in Bravo on Nov. 9, Sunday, at 8 p.m. ET.
