With popularity comes a price, but privacy is another issue.
One Direction is undoubtedly one of the most successful boy bands of our time--thanks to their avid fan base, the Directioners. This is why member Zayn Malik may have never thought that two girls from their supportive flock would "steal" his bag.
While the group passed by a Peruvian airport earlier, Zayn's bag was suddenly gone. The case is now solved as two girls posted the contents of the singer's luggage online. According to Metro, they rifled through Zayn's private belongings in the video.
The publicity did not make fellow Directioners happy. Chaos crept all over Twitter through #ZaynDeservesPrivacy.
Zayn's bag contained used clothes, drawings and a menu from the hotel where the boys stayed at. Digital Spy reported that the incident, occurring after the group's "Where We Are Tour," may have led to Zayn tweeting, "F**k!!"
Did the girls steal his bag, or was it all an accident?
It could be an honest mistake. Yahoo! cited Twitter account PeruInLuvWith1d which wrote, "These girls from Argentina went to the airport because of the boys. There they saw Lou Teasdale [the boys' hair stylist] with some bags. When she came out lots of people approached her--including bodyguards."
It seems that the crowd slamming into Lou led to the uneventful losing of Zayn's travel companion.
The source continued, "They thought it would be full of Lou's make-up so they opened it and saw clothes that Zayn used while he was in Peru, like the Bob Marley shirt. The book with his drawings is from a menu at one of the hotels the boys stayed at."
The girls reportedly attempted to return the bag, but it was all too late. "One of them or Lou--I don't remember--had that bag with them but dropped it in front of these girls. They took it and they said they tried to give it back but everyone was gone," the outlet added.
Yet the excuse did not convince many Directioners. The girls could have formally contacted the management to return the bag. Instead, they chose to upload a video which eventually went viral, showing the bag's contents. Ultimately, the decision outraged many fans.
1DAlert tweeted, "Stealing or 'finding' Zayn's bag is one thing. But taking pics of his belongings and spreading them around is a new low."
Indeed, curiosity may have killed the cat.
