The Moto X from Motorola may enjoy a boost in popularity just before the holiday season begins, as it looks as though the phone, which recently enjoyed a $100 price cut, will soon be available to most major service providers on the MotoMaker website. The website allows users to customize their own version of the Moto X and have it shipped right to their door.
This news comes from several different sources, all of which proclaim that the device will allow different service providers access to the MotoMaker website. One leak comes from the reliable leak source EVLeaks, which posted a picture on Twitter showing several Verizon Wireless versions of the Moto X with the tagline "almost here." These Verizon Moto X phones were in many different colors, signifying that they were made on the MotoMaker website, as currently Verizon customers only have access to plain black and white models of the smartphone.
A different leak from Android Central of a memo from Sprint seems to confirm that the company will also be getting access to MotoMaker; only this leak had a specific date attached to it as well:
"On 11/11, Motorola launches its Moto Maker capabilities to Sprint, allowing customers to customize their own Moto X devices."
It is possible that Verizon Wireless customers will also get their hands on the MotoMaker website at the same time as Sprint customers, but nothing has been confirmed yet from Verizon, Sprint or Motorola. Motorola may decide to stagger the release dates so that they are able to keep up with demand from day one tech fans who have waited for a chance to build their own Moto X's since it was released.
Another EVLeaks tweet may also indicate that the MotoMaker website will also come to T-Mobile. Instead of a photo leak, this leak was a simple message sent on Nov. 5 that proclaimed that T-Mobile customers would be able to get on the MotoMaker website on Friday, Nov. 8. However, on Motorola's official website for the smartphone it looks as though T-Mobile customers still do not have the ability to design their own Moto X phones as of yet.
It should be noted that until Motorola makes an official announcement or the website for the Moto X and MotoMaker change to take these leaks with a grain of salt. However, tech fans should look out on Nov. 11 for more news surrounding the Moto X and a possible expansion of the MotoMaker website.
