Just in time for the start of the 2014-15 NBA season, 2K Sports has released its latest and greatest creation coming in the form of NBA 2K15. 2K15 launched today for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Play Station 3, Play Station 4 and PC. We're awfully sorry for the Wii owners out there. But fear not: you can always watch at a friend's house. The cover features Kevin Durant, who is sure to throw down some season stats that would resemble the kind achieved in the game.

2K Sports is thrilled at their innovative new sports game and they are confident that it will set the bar pretty high for future competitors. "NBA 2K15 is one of the most ambitious sports titles in video game history," 2K Sports executive Greg Thomas said in a statement. "We've surpassed our own goals to move this franchise in new directions by pushing the boundaries of both hardware and software technologies to create a game that will change what fans can expect from sports simulations."

While NBA 2K15 comes equipped with a wide variety of new features, one of the most intriguing is their new face scanning system which mirrors a user's face and then imports it into their actual game play character. This is a massive lead into the future, if it indeed can be pulled off. For years players have tirelessly spent time trying to mold the most ideal character. Although games have gotten better at this customization feature nothing compares to actually being able to scan ones face.

For now, there appear to be issues with the face-scanning feature, with users tweeting out scary looking digital faces as the scanning feature malfunctioned. Hopefully this is just a hiccup and 2K can get it working properly soon. Another added feature to NBA 2K15 is Pharrell Williams' compiling the soundtrack. Anything that Pharrell has touched as of late turns to gold, so players should watch out for some hot new tracks. Who knows, maybe he even threw in "Happy" as the startup soundtrack default.

Shaquille O'Neal and Ernie Johnson will be the announcers during gameplay. This is a key element because they also have been updated to give more realistic commentary. The overall theme of games has always been to make them as much of a mirror of reality as possible. Even fantasy games have sought to add in every human element possible. It is refreshing to see 2K Sports go for gold with their latest project. Now if they could just get the face scanning software set, everything would be a perfect 10.
