Marussi racer Jules Bianchi is still in critical condition after spending two nights at the intensive care unit of a hospital following a crash on Sunday night at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Bianchi was taken into a three-hour surgery for his serious head injuries. Sky Sports said that the racer's parents will seek the help of Prof. Gerard Saillant, who took care of Michael Schumacher's treatment when he got into coma after sustaining cerebral injuries in a ski accident in the French Alps.
Sky Sports noted that Saillant is one of the best orthopedic surgeons and that Bianchi's family believes that he can also help the racer the way he did to Schumacher.
FIA, Formula One's governing body, announced that Bianchi remains in a "critical but stable" condition. His parents flew from Paris and Dubai just to see and monitor their son's condition. Sky Sports said the parents have refused to speak a lot about the issue but said that they are thankful to the staff of the Mie University Hospital. The hospital also clarified that reports about Bianchi being supported by apparatuses to stay alive were not true.
A similar Daily Mail report said that Marussia team is grateful for the public's messages of support for their racer.
"Following the accident involving Jules Bianchi during yesterday's 2014 Formula One Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit, the Marussia F1 Team would like to acknowledge the huge outpouring of support and affection for Jules and the Team at this very difficult time," the statement quoted by Daily Mail added.
Marussia added that they respect the decision of Bianchi's family to keep the other details of the racer's condition private at the moment. "Therefore, we would ask for patience and understanding with regard to further medical updates, which will be communicated in conjunction with the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi, where Jules is being treated, when they feel it is appropriate," it added.
On her Twitter account, Bianchi's girlfriend, Camille Marchetti, said that she is fervently praying for her beau's recovery. "You are my champion! You are the strongest," she tweeted.
Marchetti, according to Daily Mail, has been widely seen with the racer during events, cheering for her boyfriend.
Despite Bianchi's accident, the Formula One season will continue in Russia next weekend and it is yet to be known if Marussia will continue participating. But surely the whole racing community is together with the racer's family in praying for his fast recovery.
Meanwhile, the FIA has issued its official statement, explaining the accident.
"On lap 42, Adrian Sutil lost control of his car, spun and hit the tire barrier on the outside of Turn 7. The marshals displayed double waved yellow flags before the corner to warn the drivers of the incident. A recovery vehicle was dispatched in order to lift the car and take it to a place of safety behind the guardrail. While this was being done, the driver of car 17, Jules Bianchi, lost control of his car, travelled across the run-off area and hit the back of the tractor."
