TMZ Sports might have broken Katy Perry's heart when it revealed that the cute quarterback she hit on Saturday was already taken, but TMZ may have found the next, next best option—emphasis on "next, next." More on that after this flashback.

Perry did not disappoint on ESPN's College GameDay when she sat down as its celebrity picker, Yahoo Sports said, explaining that she brought her quirky self packaged in a hot pink and fuzzy football jersey.

She appeared on the pregame show for a clash between third-seeded Alabama and Ole Miss, eleventh, admitting that she had never been to a college game and didn't know much, although her manager and mentor, both from Ole Miss, put her on the show, the report said.

Throughout the show, the pop singer went kooky, literally throwing a corndog at the camera at one point. But one highlight of her appearance is her bold admission that she was crushing on Oklahoma's 20-year-old quarterback Trevor Knight, even holding out a heart-shaped photo of him and pleading that he call her.

Hollywood Life knew all too well that Perry was not the type to keep to herself, but was nevertheless shocked that she opened up about her feelings for the University of Oklahoma player on national television on Oct. 4. Perry, nine years his senior, even picked her crush's school to win against Texas Christian University "based on looks," Yahoo Sports said.

"I'm picking this one based on looks," Perry said, as quoted by Hollywood Life. "Trevor Knight, do you hear me? The quarterback from Oklahoma we don't mind so I'm going to go with him." Looks didn't really help going to the rough and tumble and Oklahoma lost, 33-37

Like that failed prediction was not enough, TMZ came out with the report that Perry's crush was in a relationship with a chemical engineering major named Kate Williams.

Back to the "next, next" option. TMZ Sports said Knight has a twin brother, the equally attractive Connor (also taken)—but, a consolation prize, the oldest in a brood of three is single and ready to mingle.

Farmer Tyler, 23, told TMZ that the younger brother was flattered by the admiration. However, he said the brother is in love right now and that he was willing to take Trevor's place.Here's TMZ's photo of him giving Perry a dose of her own medicine.

TMZ did mention that the two have little in common, Tyler saying he is a black sheep. But it also noted Perry's liking for dark horses.

If that still fails, though, Perry can eye another football eyecandy, India's Zee News reported.

Yahoo Sports noticed that it wasn't the first time the "California Girls" hit-maker publicly pursued a sportsman. She dedicated her "Peacock" song at a 2012 pre-Super Bowl performance to Tim Tebow.
