Lady Gaga is known for pushing the envelope, but never before has she--or any other artist--pushed it beyond earthly limits.

The 27-year-old "Dope" singer is set go on a voyage to outer space where she will perform in 2015 on a Virgin Galactic ship.  The pop superstar will belt out a single track during the Zero G Colony, a three-day hi-tech festival set to take place at Spaceport America in New Mexico that features world-class entertainment and cutting-edge technology. Gaga's performance in space is planned to take place on the third day at dawn, approximately six months after the first Virgin Galactic commercial flight.

"She has to do a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere," a source told US Weekly, adding that the diva's glam squad will join her in the shuttle.

The Mother Monster confirmed the news, on Wednesday tweeting, "GagaInSpace2015."

A source added that the historic event will be "like nothing the world has seen before."

But just in case something goes wrong, a source tells Us that "Gaga has taken out a ridiculous life insurance policy."

Back in June, Justin Bieber also announced that he, too, was signed up to literally take a trip out of this world. However, so far, Gaga is the first performer scheduled to sing in space.

Whether this space performance goes ahead depends almost largely on the continued development and success of Virgin Galactic's operations, reports Geek.com. However, if Virgin isn't ready in 2015, then the singer will have to stay on her home planet.
