After months of observation and rehab actor/comedian Tracy Morgan is still wheel chair bound with some small signs of progress. Earlier this year Morgan was involved in a horrific crash between his limo-bus and a Walmart owned semi-truck. The semi-truck driver had allegedly been awake for more than 24-hours, which could have been a factor that lead to the crash. The driver was also traveling 20 miles-per-hour over the speed limit.
Currently there are both criminal and civil suits going on in the courts to determine responsibility for the accident. Walmart has cited time and again that Morgan and his passengers should have been wearing seatbelts. Their argument is that Morgan's brain injuries were partially caused by his own 'negligence.'
After hearing what Walmart said in court, Morgan and his lawyer, Benedict Morelli condemned the global giant for having the audacity to blame the victims in the auto incident that left Morgan's comedian friend, Jimmy Mack, dead.
"I can't believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused," the "30 Rock" star wrote. "My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back."
Morelli also confirmed Morgan's statements adding in that, "These people are despicable. They knew that they changed these people's lives forever and killed somebody. They're good blame shifters. I guess that's how they make $783 billion a year, shifting the blame."
Morgan is still undergoing constant therapy that includes speech, cognitive, vocational and physical functionality. He is still wheelchair-bound and doctors say that the 45 year-old may never truly recover to his former self.
When asked if Morgan would ever be able to preform again, Morelli said, "The jury's still out. The doctors don't know the answer. I don't know the answer."
Fans will easily remember the rambunctious and hyper-active nature of Morgan in his various comedic roles on "30 Rock" and the "Mio" commercials. Morgan's lawsuit against Walmart will not only include Morgan's initial injuries but also his loss of work while in recovery. Morgan had to drop out of a movie and also television shows that were set to air next year after the accident earlier this year.
