The live audience of ABC's infotainment talk show "The View" witnessed a fight on Thursday as moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-host Rosie O'Donnell had an argument during a commercial break. Radar Online reported that Rosie got upset after her talk was cut by Whoopi - right on a topic she was "passionate" about. The latter had to do so as the segment was running out of time.
The subject was a "Hot Topic" and Rosie has expressed her interest about it earlier backstage. According to Daily Mail, an unnamed insider told that only Whoopi was able to communicate with the producers who were in the control room. Rosie was reportedly refused to wear the ISD monitor in her ear.
When Whoopi was instructed to go on commercial break, she had no choice but to abruptly cut Rosie while she's talking. That's when Rosie went loose. "As soon as they went to commercial break, Rosie took the handheld microphone that they use to engage the audience," the insider said.
According to Daily Mail, Rosie spoke directly to Whoopi as she held the microphone. She allegedly expressed that the moderator has hurt her feelings. She was said to be very upset.
In an attempt to ease the emotional situation, Whoopi reportedly responded without a microphone, "This isn't the time for this, Rosie."
But Rosie continued to blabber in front of the audience about what she saw as an on-air snub. She reportedly added, "Well I just don't appreciate you saying that you were going to do something and not doing it. It makes me upset and I just don't want to have to go through this."
The other party threw back another word of warning that it was "not the time" for such conversation.
But nothing's gonna stop ranting Rosie.
Extremely annoyed this time, Whoopi allegedly said, "F*** it, I told you to leave it alone and you just don't want to listen. If you want to go there Rosie, I will dammit. I'm really sick of your s***!"
The studio fell silent, according to New York Daily News - until co-host Rosie Perez lightened the mood, "Oh, s***, Twitter is going to be off the hook now." The outlet added that as soon as the show went back on air, the two acted as if nothing happened.
And business remained as usual. "The View" spokeswoman Lauri Hogan responded on the issue, "They had a misunderstanding and an exchange. They talked it out and they were back to business as usual."
