After finishing Amanda Nunes in a brutal fight on Saturday, Cat Zingano is ready to face Ronda Rousey possibly by the start of next year, reported Fox Sports.

In an interview with Fox Sports, UFC president Dana White said that a Zingano-Rousey fight is very possible on Jan. 3 at UFC 182 "if Zingano wins and stays healthy."

Zingano claimed her third-round UFC 178 bantamweight fight against Nunes, a match filled with strikes and pure fight madness until the end.

A Fox Sports report said that the 32-year-old fighter from Colorado experienced a rough start against Nunes who immediately enganged the former as soon as the opening bell rang. Nunes reportedly placed Zingano on her back with an armbar attempt which was followed by heavy strikes she threw at her opponent.

The winning fighter tried to stay cool despite receiving brutal strikes from Nunes who came loaded with aggressiveness and passion to win the game. But Fox Sports said that things changed during the second round where Zingano dominated as she aggressively attacked Nunes even putting her on her back.

Zingano even displayed a move rarely used technique in the UFC which Fox Sports termed as the roe hold submission though her opponent was able to escape from it.

The deciding move which sealed Zingano's victory was a front headlock which enabled her to throw numerous punches on Nunes who was already bleeding, prompting the referee to stop the fight and declare the American fighter as the winner.

This win, according to Yahoo Sports, marks a memorable comeback for Zingano who debuted her UFC career in April last year. Rousey was one of her contemporaries and she was supposed to have a coaching slot opposite the UFC champ on "The Ultimate Fighter."

However, she had to watch Rousey claim victory in every fight as Zingano suffered a knee injury and lost her husband after. She clarified to Yahoo Sports that she did not rush coming back and agreeing to a fight.

"I was really just pushing to get through this fight. I had to get through this to get through the horizon and get to the next point," she explained.

Asked if she is now prepared to face Rousey, Zingano immediate responded with "Let's go, I'm ready. I have all the respect in the world for Ronda Rousey, but this is my time."

Yahoo Sports said that Rousey is also anticipating the chance to face off with Zingano--claiming that she is already looking forward to that opportunity.

"I talked to her personally. And I told her, 'One day we are going to have a title fight that you deserve. I'm going to beat you, but you're going to have it.' She's had a very, very rough year and it's exactly what she needs. I'd be happy to provide that experience for her," Rousey said.
