Amazon has updated its online listing for the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U bundle which includes a GameCube-style controller, a copy of the game and four player USB ports to plug the controllers into. The Bundle will retail for $99.99.
The GameCube controller has been the popular playable option for the series ever since Super Smash Bros. Melee debuted on the system in 2001. Because of the popularity of the controller, fans expressed their desire to continue support for the controller on the Wii for Super Smash Bros.
For the newest iteration of Smash Bros. on Wii U, Nintendo announced that players would have the option to use the standard Game Pad, Classic Controller Pro, Wii Remote, Wii Remote with nun-chuck or the GameCube controller.
The two pronged USB hub included in the bundle will support up to four GameCube controllers. The Wii U necessitates two USBs for the power output to draw enough power through the console to power the add-on.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the latest in Nintendo's best selling fighting series. It pits popular Nintendo characters duking it out in themed stages from different video game series. This time around the roster is particularly robust, including characters from well known series like Mario, Link and Samus and lesser known characters and titles like Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles and Duck Hunt Dog from Duck Hunt.
Nintendo will also be including characters from other non-Nintendo titles including Sonic The Hedgehog from Sega, Pac-man from Namco and Mega Man from Capcom. The game is expected to be released some time this Winter. A companion game for the 3DS that will feature an identical roster will be released Oct. 3.
