It's been almost a week since Apple released the iPhone 6, the successor to the Apple handset throne. Since then both reviewers and users have had a decent amount of time to play around with the device and weigh in on what it does best. We're going to go through the top five iPhone 6 features that everyone seems to be talking about the most. If you're an iPhone 6 owner, or if you have a strong opinion on what you think the iPhone 6's best feature is, feel free to vote below in our survey.
The iSight Camera has been touted by Apple as the mobile camera that will change the way we take video on our phones. And they certainly crammed enough features in it to make a strong case for a game-changing shooter. But do they succeed? Reviewers tend to think so. Being able to capture 1080p (full HD) video at 60 frames-per-second is awesome. If you don't know, normal film cameras capture 24 frames-per-second (fps), so the higher the frame rate, the smoother the video should look. Apple has also included the ability to shoot at 240 fps, which makes for some super slow-motion video.
The Retina HD Display continues Apple's legacy of having one of the best mobile displays on the market. And the Retina HD screen on the iPhone 6 promises to be even better than the iPhone 5s' display, which was no slouch itself. Apple promises "higher contrast, dual-domain pixels for more accurate color" and better viewing angles. Other innovations include a "full sRGB color standard," along with better brightness and white balance.
VoLTE stands for Voice Over LTE, which, along with faster LTE speeds, makes the iPhone 6's ability to keep you connected even better, or so Apple says. Essentially, VoLTE sends phone calls over your faster LTE data connection instead of traditional cell technology. Apple says this is supposed to make for clearer call quality, like "you were face to face," with whoever you were talking to.
Battery Life was one of the issues that plagued last year's iPhone 5s and Apple claims they have fixed the problem this time around. Part of the solution came from the fact that bigger phones typically have bigger batteries, so this year's iPhone being bigger shouldn't be any worse than the iPhone 5s. But that's not much consolation, which is why Apple claims up to 10 days of standby time for the iPhone 6, along with up to 50 hours of audio playback, up to 11 hours of HD video playback and up to 10 hours of LTE browsing.
The iPhone 6's Design is one of the main reasons people are pre-ordering it in record numbers, and it isn't hard to see why. It's slimmer (6.9 mm) rounder and smoother than any other iPhone before it. The seamless transition from the display's glass to the metal edges of the frame is one of the features Apple is touting the most about the iPhone 6. Anodized aluminum, along with glass and stainless steel make up the frame, and it all appears to come together quite nicely.
Ok, those our top five features for the iPhone 6. What do you think? Do you agree? Also, be sure to vote for the best iPhone 6 feature in our survey above.
