After being a runner-up to Serena Williams in the US Open, Caroline Wozniacki failed to claim her $1.45 million check. Many asked the question why, of all things, the tennis player forgot it especially with the huge amount involved.

It seemed like Wozniacki just took off after the finals, carrying her trophy and her things but leaving behind her prize money.

She was certainly in a hurry, as according to USA Today, she had to return to the Queens 30 minutes after boarding her car with all her things and was already heading for Manhattan home. It looked like she was really in a hurry to leave after the tournament to the point that she completely forgot about getting her earnings or could it be that she simply did not care about the money?

A similar Huffington Post report confirmed that Wozniacki does not really care that much about monetary gains.

"I have enough to eat, buy nice shoes. For me, it's about the tennis and the trophies. I'm not motivated by money," she was quoted by the Huffington Post as saying. The report added that she also forgot to inquire about the additional $500,000 in sponsorship incentives during the US Open.

With her endorsements seemingly enough to sustain her wants and needs, it looks like Wozniacki does not consider tournaments as a way to earn money but simply an outlet to perform and prove her skills in the sport.

Her exclusive interview with the The Wall Street Journal revealed that Wozniacki cares a bit about her sponsorship deals.

"I never think about my brand. I want to do well for myself and my sponsors...but I feel no pressure, because I don't play for the money," she explained.

A breakdown of her earnings was provided by The Wall Street Journal--revealing that she earns $10 million from her endorsement deals with Rolex, Adidas, Babolat and other brands. Having these sponsors alone is a clear indication that she can truly survive even if she does not get a single dime from her games.

Though money is not a concern for her, it seems like winning a Grand Slam title is, as until now she has failed to grab a championship trophy. Her recent loss was to Ana Ivanovic in the Pan Pacific Open.

According to The Guardian, Ivanovic played "flawlessly" and won every set of the match to seal her victory.
