Sony's PlayStation has confirmed in an official post that the PlayStation TV (PS TV) comes out in North America on October 14. But the said platform will not be released just by itself, as almost 700 games will be playable in the US and Canada on Day One.

Among these games are "Killzone: Mercenary," "Persona 4 Golden" and "Metal Gear Solid."

The gaming giant added that "Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom from Little Orbit" will be out by November. They also promised expansion of the game library promising more to come in the future.

The PlayStation TV will connect to PS4 wirelessly, according to Bloomberg. This shall enable users to play in separate locations. Gamers are free to download games for older devices.

Conceptually, the PS TV is a microconsole dressed to get more gamers for the holidays without spending too much. "We call it the little console with the big PlayStation heart,.. It's an entry point into the world of PlayStation," the outlet quoted John Koller, Vice President of Platforms Marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

The PS TV is 4.134 inches in length, 2.6 inches in width and 0.5 inch thick. It weighs approximately 3.9 ounces. It connects to both Wi-Fi and Ethernet. It has seven ports: the PlayStation Vita card slot, power button, memory card slot, USB port, HDMI out port, Ethernet port and DC in 5V port.

The lineup of games includes, but is not limited to the following: "Rayman Origins," "God of War Collection," "Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster," "Dragon's Crown," "Spelunky," "Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions," "Patapon," "Twisted Metal" and "Borderlands 2."

"Minecraft" is another popular game expected for release.

Aside from these games, other features will also be available. Users will be given freedom to access apps and media entertainment including TV shows and movies. Parental control features allow flexibility to manage console use schedule, gameplay by ESRB rating and block in-store purchases. PlayStation recommends having wired internet connection with a broadband speed of 5 Mbps or greater.

The standalone system of PlayStation TV is priced at $99.99. The bundle, which includes a wireless controller (DUALSHOCK 3), 8GB memory card and "The LEGO Movie Videogame" comes at a higher price of $139.99.

Exclusive PS TV bundles are available at Walmart for a limited time period. This will even include "Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time" for the same bundle price.
