Amazon's plethora of Fire products might just spread like wildfire.
The company has unveiled multiple products on Wednesday, starting with a 6-inch tablet. Do not be mistaken--the model is classified as a tablet and not a phablet of any sort.
The line of products released included the new Fire HDX 8.9, the new Fire HD which comes in 6-inch and 7-inch models, the new Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition available in 6 and 7 inches, a new Kindle e-Reader (new Kindle and Kindle Voyage) and the new Fire OS 4 Sangria.
The Fire HDX 8.9 is Amazon's top product. The company calls the device its "most powerful tablet yet - designed to do it all." The tablet operates on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 processor at 2.5GHz. It features Adreno 420 GPU, which basically yields high-resolution images. One fresher feature is the 802.11ac Wi-Fi, dubbed to be four times faster than the device's predecessor. The device is priced at $379 for the Wi-Fi version and $479 for the LTE version.
The new Fire HD tablets are undeniably cheap. Priced at $99, the 6-inch version features 1280x800 high-definition LCD display, faster quad-core processor with a running potential of 1.5 GHz, faster graphic engines, front and rear cameras and more. It comes in black, white, cobalt, magenta and citron. The 7-inch version retails for $139.
Amazon takes kids very seriously with the Fire HD Kids Edition working under quad-core processor. It also has an HD display. The device comes with a two-year replacement warranty should it be damaged. Kids may get the 6-inch tablet for $149, while the 7-inch costs $189.
The new Kindle e-Reader has a convenient touchscreen interface, 20% faster processor, doubled storage space and houses exclusive features such as Kindle FreeTime, Goodreads integration, X-Ray and more. It is priced at $79.
Meanwhile, Kindle Voyage is the "thinnest Kindle ever," with a 7.6 mm thinness tailored for longer reading sessions. It sports new PagePress sensors that simply require pressure to turn a page, without lifting a finger. The hardware's back is made of magnesium, while the adaptive front light aids the readers' eyes. It retails for $199.
The new OS 4 Sangria is branded to introduce "an updated visual design, hundreds of platform updates and exclusive new features including Family Library, Profiles, Smart Suspend, and more." The Smart Suspend is meant to save energy.
Amazon announced Fire HD tablets and Kindle e-Reader's release date as Oct. 2. The Fire HDX 8.9 and Kids Edition tablets arrive on Oct. 21. The Kindle Voyage will come by November.
