Miley Cyrus continues to cause controversy while doing her Bangerz Tour and this time it's in Mexico.

The 21-year-old pop singer was at the Arena Monterrey on Wednesday--performing in front of a sold out crowd and as usual, there was a lot of twerking, tongue-out, dancing and booty-shaking. In the video below you can see Miley sitting on a platform wearing a shiny, silver bodysuit and hat--drinking some water and spitting it out toward the crowd.

That's not all Miley did which caused quite a stir. While she's known for butt slapping and provocative dance moves, Cyrus took it one step further and strutted on stage with a fake butt and had a backup dancer smack her behind with a Mexican flag, reported Fox News Latino.

Miley's performance coincided with the Independence Day celebration and obviously, the stunt didn't go unnoticed. According to Reuters, a Mexican legislature has made a motion urging the federal government to fine the "Wrecking Ball" singer for inappropriate use of the flag.

It was Francisco Trevino, a local lawmaker who called on the Nuevo Leon state legislature to enforce the local policy on the use of the flag, said the publication. The penalty for misuse of patriotic symbols carries a fine of $1,200 or detention for up to 36 hours.

"They are hitting her with the flag, or cleaning her backside. It's a lack of respect," pressed Trevino. "The interior ministry must sanction the singer Miley Cyrus for desecrating the flag." He added that any future performances should be closely monitored, said Yahoo!

The Associated Press has also noted that per the spokesman of the interior ministry, the request was put forth by the Nuevo Leon state congress on the grounds of desecrating the flag. A source, however, has revealed that "the company that brought her here would be sanctioned, not her" as the organizers were responsible for the content of the concert.

This is not the first Latin America controversy for the star's world tour. It was only a few weeks ago when Miley was banned from performing in the Dominican Republic. The government cited moral reasons.

Cyrus will perform once again in Monterrey Thursday night and set off for Mexico City, followed by Guadalajara.

What're your thoughts? Did the singer and her crew went to far? Comment below and let us know!
