"American Idol Season 8" finalist Adam Lambert is set to make come back to the reality show. An official tweet read, "Adam Lambert will be serving as guest judge at the NY auditions. Our thoughts are with Keith and his family during this difficult time."
Apparently, the LGBT advocate comes in to fill Keith Urban's spot. Urban is currently supporting his wife Nicole Kidman, who just lost her father last week.
People reported that Dr. Antony Kidman died in a tragic accident where he "fell." The incident occurred while the doctor visited Nicole's sister Antonia and her six children in Singapore. The late doctor was a clinical psychologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and a Director of Health Psychology at the University of Technology Sydney.
So Lambert gets in as judge--which could be a dream come true, as he mentioned about it last year. In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, he was asked about taking such position in AI. He answered that he would "love" to.
"If they called me to judge, I'd say 'Where do I sign?'," he added.
This is not the first time Lambert makes a comeback on the show. In Season 13, he was invited to be a guest mentor along with Chris Daughtry from Season 5. They represented artists who failed to get the "American Idol" title, yet still emerged successful. Daughtry placed fourth during his season, while Lambert was runner-up to Kris Allen.
Lambert is currently working on his third album with Swedish producer and songwriter Max Martin, said U-T San Diego. Martin is credited for hits from Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Pink, Usher, Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson, The Backstreet Boys, Taylor Swift and others. He also co-produced Lambert's hit "Whataya Want From Me," and another track coming from the singer's debut album.
Lambert has also toured with Roger Taylor and Brian May of Queen this year. According to PopCrush, their Madison Square Garden show was sold out in 24 hours. In addition, five more dates were added due to popular demand.
The "American Idol" finalist joins the judging panel composed of Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. Auditions will be held at Nassau Coliseum in New York on Wednesday, according to The Wrap.
"American Idol Season 14" airs in early 2015 on Fox.
