Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton recently shared his recovery photos on his Instagram account which some people found disturbing. Last week, it can be remembered that Stanton accidentally got hit on the face by a pitch made by Mike Fiers of the Milwaukee Brewers.

A CBS Sports report said that though the slugger's injuries were not serious, these were very painful as his face almost got smashed after the freak accident.

And after a week of staying in the hospital and undergoing surgery, Stanton was able to post a selfie on his Instagram account which showed how he is quickly recovering.

Although still a bit gruesome, it can be seen from the photo that the baseball player is looking a lot better. He is expected to return to the game as soon as he makes a full recovery hopefully by the end of this year or early next year.

According to Bleacher Report, Stanton's fast recovery is also a good sign that he might be able to return within the season as it said that the Marlins need a player like him. Stanton is also on the road to becoming the season MVP, the report added.

Stanton's record shows that he is leading the league with 37 home runs, 94 walks, .555 slugging percentage and .950 PPS. But because of his injury, this record might be bumped by other competitive players like Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw, according to Bleacher Report, will make things hard for Stanton if the latter is really aiming for the MVP title. But aside from Kershaw, Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder, Andrew McCutchen, is also going for the MVP spot for the season. He is the former MVP last year and his statistics show that he Is doing better in this year's season with a .399 on-base percentage, 161 OPS-plus and 162 weighted runs created plus.

McCutchen has also suffered a rib injury last month but he was able to improve his performance while he was recovering. Stanton was supposed to be the strongest contender in the game since he did not miss any part of the season due to an injury, Bleacher Report noted.

He is reportedly a strong finisher for the season with his performance and standing but he may not be able to sustain his top position if he will not return for the season. His return and fast recovery is the best scenario that his fans and the Marlins could hope for.

Still, Stanton is positive that he is making a "huge progress." "Want to thank everyone who has played a part in my recovery process. Your kind messages, thoughts & prayers have meant the world to me. Pushing forward," read his Instagram caption.
