UFC's Ronda Rousey has expressed her interest to join all-grappling promotion, Metamoris, with a condition that she'll be paid as much as she earns in the UFC.
According to a GiveMeSport article, the UFC female champ would want to perform in the event but she is currently considering a lot of things including her busy schedule.
"Right now, it's so much to keep up with the acting career, and the MMA career going. And everyone keeps going, are you going to do WWE? Are you going to do Metamoris? Are you going to to four fights this year? Are you going to be an astronaut? I'm like, hold on. I can't make time to run for President right now, I can only do so many things at one time," Rousey said.
She also raised the concern on the pay rate. "I'd be happy to do a Metamoris if they paid me as much as they paid me for a UFC fight," Rousey added.
Rousey has already made a great record in the UFC so she will be putting a lot at stake in case she really decides to join Metamoris. Maybe this has made her think twice about listing for the event when she is already done with MMA.
"I think it would be a really really cool idea when I'm done fighting, too, because that's one of those sports that are kinder on the joints that you can do for a long time," Rousey revealed.
According to MMA Fighting, jiu-jitsu promoters will have to really step up their efforts to have Rousey on the event. A few months ago, it was reported that Rousey "offended the sensibilities" of the jiu-jitsu community with the following comment.
"I wasn't saying judo vs. jiu-jitsu. I was saying more like, me personally, because I know in generally a jiu-jitsu person is better on the ground... all these girls are so offended by me thinking that I'm the best in the world and I can beat them. No one is asking why shouldn't I be offended for them having the same exact opinion," Rousey explained.
This issue even led to jiu-jitsu champ, Bia Mesquita, challenging the UFC fighter which Rousey declined, saying that she still has other things to focus on.
