The cast of the newest season of the show were in for a pretty sweaty workout as revealed in the first episode.

Jessie Pavelka and Jennifer Widerstrom previously told Us Weekly that though each contestant's regimen is tailored to his or her needs, none of the workouts will be easy.

"It is custom to each person," said in the Us Weekly report. "I really need to uniquely find what formula works with each contestant on the inside and the outside."

According to Pavelka, "The first workout's insane"-even for the show's ex-athlete cast. The 16th season, titled "The Biggest Loser: Glory Days", has 20 former sportsmen and women who are looking to get back on track in terms of fitness.

The show's new cast includes ex-NFL athletes Scott Mitchell and Damien Woody, WNBA star Vanessa Hayden, professional tennis player Zina Garrison and three-time Olympic gold medalist for softball Lori Harrigan-Mack, among others.

It's hard to imagine how these former fitness buffs kind of lost their way but Harrigan-Mack, for one, spilled that depression played a part in her case.

"After I retired in 2004, I met my husband, got married, we had a beautiful boy and after that I suffered eight miscarriages," Harrigan-Mack told People Magazine as quoted by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

"So after that I think I kind of went into, obviously, a depression and I just didn't deal with it at all. With my husband 100 percent behind me, I said 'The Biggest Loser' is where I have to change. I have to do this," she added.

Damien Woody, whose days with the New England Patriots earned him two Super Bowl championships, said that his hearty 3,000-plus calorie-meals after retirement was the culprit.

"Once you retire and are out of the game, if your eating habits don't change, you start packing on the pounds," NJ.com quoted him.

"I've been a big dude for a long time," he added in the report. "Most people call me Big Wood. I just want to be called by my name. Hopefully by the end of this thing, everyone can just call me Damien."

Veteran "The Biggest Loser" trainers Dolvett Quince and Bob Harper will still be working with the contestants, alongside Pavelka and Widerstrom.

Aside from new trainers, season 16 will also come with a twist-a so called "Comeback Canyon" where eliminated contestants will be trained by Harper. Those who undergo the secret training will have a chance to return to the competition and a chance to take home $250,000 plus the coveted title.

The first episode of "The Biggest Loser: Glory Days" premiered tonight and sent home Garrison. Read the full recap of the show's premiere episode, "Opening Day", here.
