Fans of Apple products are notorious for the lengths they will go to just to be among the first to get their hands on the company's latest products. This is a practice that seems to get bigger and bigger with every iteration of the iPhone. The long standing tradition of waiting in absurdly long lines for the latest Apple offering is alive and well with the launch of the iPhone 6.

Of course any hopes of being the first in line ended quickly. In fact, those hopes were over before the Apple's media event on Sept. 9. Fans were already lining up outside of Apple stores as early as Sept. 4; a full five days before the newest iPhones were even officially confirmed to exist.

Lines only expanded from there, once people actually knew what the phones were going to look like. The lines in New York City, the cite of Apple's flagship store on 5th avenue, appear to be the busiest. It is not just younger fans either or those without as many responsibilities; reports are coming in that many people are paying friends, family and even total strangers thousands of dollars to wait in line for them.

The story appears to be the same at other locations in the world from Tokyo to the UK to Sydney. Fans are simply willing to go to any lengths if it means that they get to be the first ones to say that they have the new iPhone.

Pre-orders for the new Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus begin on Sept. 12. The iPhone 6 will retail for $199 for 16GB, $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB. The iPhone 6 plus is priced at $299, $399 and $499 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models, respectively. Apple will launch the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus on Sept. 19, which means that these fans have just over a week before their long wait finally pays off.

Apple also announced the Apple Watch on Tuesday, though fans will would be crazy to queue up for that device now. Apple stated that the new wearable will not be available until sometime next year. So, that's at least 4 - 6 months away. While we hope no Apple fan would sincerely wait in a line for months not weeks, it sadly wouldn't suprise us if some did.
