After five months of romance, it's being reported that reality star Khloe Kardashian and boyfriend, rapper French Montana are taking a break from each other.

An insider for Us Weekly spilled that the 30-year-old Kardashian has kicked Montana, 29, to the curb for laying it on too thick.

"They are on a break," said a source to the publication. "The relationship got too heavy and Khloe needed to take a step back."

Another insider said that aside from being too intense, the "Gifted" singer became too "needy" and "dependent on her," which was a complete turn off for the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star.

It didn't help Montana that a number of people from Khloe's tight-knit family weren't keen on the relationship. Khloe's mom, Kris Jenner, hasn't been on board with their relationship from the get-go and apparently "told Khloe all the time," said the source and she wasn't alone on that.

Another friend told Us that Kim Kardashian-West as well as step-dad, former Olympian Bruce Jenner, were "very skeptical" and considered the possibility that French was only in it for the fame and glory.

Mail Online recalled an earlier statement by Montana where the musician didn't deny the advantages of dating a Kardashian.

"I want to capitalize on it," admitted French. "I'll get a fan base from everywhere. I just hope I'll be able to connect with everything that's going on."

The news of the break up was confirmed by someone in-the-know to People and says: "They're still talking though," but the relationship "wasn't the perfect fit for her."

E! News broke the update Wednesday by revealing that the ex-wife of basketball player, Lamar Odom, is once again back on the market.

While neither stars have commented on the rumored split, Khloe may have just given us a subtle confirmation via Instagram. Quoting poet, Robert M. Drake, she posted the following lines:

"Maybe one day we'll find that place where you and I could be together. And we'll catch our dreams within the waves of change. So smile for me one last time and believe that we'll meet again. Until then, I'll be missing you," said the star, possibly about her break up?

Prior to her romance with French, Khloe was married to Odom for four years. The marriage ended late 2013 with Khloe filing for divorce allegedly because of drug abuse and serial infidelity on the part of Odom.
