Until Apple's media event the morning of September 9th, all of the rumors and supposedly leaked details regarding the iPhone 6 will remain just that- rumors.  However, that has not stopped the wealth of social media speculation that the new phone has encouraged.

This is perhaps Apple's greatest asset; the company simply knows how to get people talking better than any other technology company in the world. It is important to recognize some of these social media posts and how significant the thoughts they present are.

NFC payments

This may very well end up being the most radical aspect of the new phone. Apple is hoping to capitalize on the momentum that they started with the Passbook feature from iOS 7 and the iPhone 5 iterations. That feature will dovetail into a near field communication payments.

In other words, Apple wants to be able to replace your credit card.

They have apparently already partnered with major credit and debit providers to ensure that their product is as effective and adaptable to as many consumers as possible. Apple is very intent on having a presence in almost every aspect of their fan's lives so this seems like the next logical step.

"iPhone 6 plus"- Larger screen

This one is practically a given at this point.  Apple will unveil two new iPhones come Tuesday morning, both of them larger than the current models.  The motivation behind this can be seen from a variety of perspectives, one being that it enters them into the now popular "phablet" market and helps Apple keep up with the success of larger format Android handsets.

Whatever the case, it is probably the right move, but one has to wonder whether Apple will do enough to make this new change all their own rather than make it appear that they are playing catch-ip

Sapphire glass and Damage Prevention

This is something that has become one of the biggest issues with modern day smartphones. Companies are finally beginning to realize that it is important to take steps to prevent the epidemic of phone screens shattering.

The sapphire glass has actually been a popular new upgrade for the Apple iPhone with many analysts focusing their coverage on what this means for the phone's usability.

Obviously whether or not this new glass ends up being "indestructible," it appears it will not be determined completely until the phone is actually used by consumers, but for now this can be seen as step in the right direction.

Apple will be holding a media summit September 9th where it is expected that they will reveal the iPhone 6.
