The actor has just confirmed that there are no talks of a fourth "Iron Man" movie--at least none yet.

According to Variety, Robert Downey Jr., the man behind the red mask and the red suit, said that there is no such film as "Iron Man 4."

"There isn't one in the pipe," Downey told Variety. "No, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'"

Earlier, the actor expressed that he was open to playing Tony Stark yet again. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly on the set of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," he said of the alleged new Iron Man film:

"It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree.

"When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement. Right now, this has just been swell, hasn't it? This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time."

Downey has signed on for 2015's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and for 2018's "The Avengers 3." Rumors of the actor signing on for a fourth installment of the franchise, however, has not been confirmed.

Though the actor's revelation isn't really something which fans should be excited about, there is still some good news. Downey implied that he wasn't keen on letting someone else play the Tony Stark role should a fourth film be underway.

"It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Screen Rant reported of a possible 2018 release date for the alleged "Iron Man 4" film--should it come to fruition.

Those who are excited to see Downey back on the big screen can have their dose of the actor in the upcoming "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" which is slated for a May 1, 2015 show date.

Downey reunites with "The Avengers" cast Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo, among many others. He will also be seen on the big screen with new cast members Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader.
