Samsung has announced the latest model of its highly-popular phablet during the 2014 IFA and it comes with a slew of new cutting-edge features.
Below are the top 5 upgrades that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 packs.
Phone Screen
Samsung, for the first time since it launched its Galaxy Note series, has restrained itself from boosting its screen size. The Note 4 boasts of a super HD screen (2560 x 1440) that clocks in at 5.7 inches, the same size as the earlier model. Its QHD screen has a super AMOLED display with a pressure sensitivity that has been boosted to twice its accuracy making it more effective and efficient with its trademark S-pen, noted Forbes.
Rapid Charging
Samsung has consistently pointed out how it bests Apple's battery performance and now, with its rapid battery-charging feature, Samsung advertises a zero-to-50-percent charging capacity within 30 minutes. The phablet packs in the same 3,220mAh Li-ion battery.
Faster Processing
The Note 4 is powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core processor or 1.9GHz Octa-core, depending on region, and comes pre-programmed with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Additionally, it's got a 32GB built-in storage, with microSD card support (up to 64GB). With 3GB of RAM, the Note 4 will allow users a lot of multi-tasking.
Snapshot Abilities
Samsung gave the Note 4 a considerable camera upgrade--from a 13-MP camera to a 16-MP camera with smart OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). It's supported with a 3.7-MP front-facing camera and per Samsung, it's got an extended exposure time allowing users to get quality photos even in dim settings.
Samsung did not make mention of the release date during the launch but according to TheGalaxyNote4 website, rumors estimate that the new phablet will be avaiable by the first week of October.
No price points were discussed but experts say it shouldn't veer far from the $300 price tag (with contract) the Note 3 was introduced with.
Within two weeks, rival tech company Apple is widely expected to launch its newest smartphone. The iPhone 6, which is said to have two sizes--a 4.7-inch screen and a 5.5-inch screen, could compete with both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Along with the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, Samsung has also launched other devices including the Galaxy Note Edge, Gear S, and Gear VR. Watch the Samsung UNPACKED Episode 2 live stream below:
