For the Ryder Cup wild-card picks, USA captain, Tom Watson, selected Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson, claiming that the three professional golfers would be the perfect choices for the team in terms of "experience and form," according to The Guardian.

The three wild card picks were announced during a news conference at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York. The Guardian also noted that they will join the 12-man American team that includes Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Jimmy Walker, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Zach Johnson on the 12-man American team.

"There were several people in the mix for my three picks. A lot of players are starting to play well from the American side and that's a good thing. We are going to need it. The Europeans, on paper, have been touted as being the favourites and we are the underdogs but I have a fundamental belief in my team," Watson said.

For his part Bradley said that getting into the team is very important for him and that he badly wanted to win the Ryder Cup. "I think this is a redemption year for a lot of guys who were on the team in 2012," he was quoted by The Guardian as saying. The 28-year-old Bradley has a record of winning the PGA Tour thrice and has won his first major crown in 2011, the site added.

Mahan, on the other hand, debuted in Valhalla last 2008 and according to SB Nation, he is already a veteran at 32 years old. It was also reported that Watson believed in Mahan's talent and skills as a golfer.

As for Simpson, the player is known to have claimed victory at the PGA Tour four times. SB Nation said that the player was included in the wild-card picks due to his success at the 2012 Cup in Medinah. All the three players that completed the US team roster were in Denver for their preparations for the upcoming BMW Championship.

The USA team, according to The Guardian, is set to face the Europeans on Sep. 26-28 in Gleneagles, Scotland.

ESPN said that the game will be about redemption after the Europeans defeated the Americans in a game at Medinah in 2012. It added that the Europeans were able to retain their championship title because of the contributions of star players, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer. The same team has won the Ryder Cup for seven times in the last nine tournaments.

"Redemption is going to be a strong word amongst all our players. Europe has flat out kicked our butts for the last 10 or 15 years. That's just the way it is. We're extremely motivated and we have a lot to prove. I think we can't wait to get over there," Mahan told New York Daily News.
