"Downton Abbey," the popular British costume drama TV series created by Julian Fellowes, is coming very soon for its latest installment with season 5.
The short trailer of the upcoming series features deep character screenplay, beginning with "I feel a shaking of the ground I stand on." The video is accompanied by Gabrielle Aplin's "Salvation," a soft background music, giving the watch a homey feel of Old Britain.
One of the show's famous cast, Maggie Smith (plays Violet), appears in the trailer saying, "If you have something to say, say it."
Secret seems to be the central theme in the upcoming series, as it is repeatedly spoken all throughout the trailer. Mrs. Hughes says, "I have a secret. A bad secret." Next, is Thomas who tells, "This house has no secrets." They sure know how to set up good cliffhangers.
International Business Times gives us a preview of how "Downton Abbey" tells about change. Although unspecific, Lady Edith's declaration of how "the world is changing" brings us at the edge of our seats with the first look at Richard E. Grant and Anna Chancellor's new characters is something to keep our eyes on. Grant has recently appeared in the latest season of "Girls" as Simon Bricker.
The Crawleys also spark interest, as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, chuckles about servants being people too, preferably only on their days off. Lady Mary seems to gain entry into a new romantic affair. Branson likewise gets into a probable new love story.
A baffling scene of Jimmy Kent who gets caught in bed with a mystery woman is one of the trailer's most controversial highlights. With Mr. Carson catching Jimmy, International Business Times assumed that the mysterious girl is perhaps Lady Anstruther, who later appears in the trailer with the line, "You're a very naughty boy."
Entertainment Weekly suggested a probable burning of Downton, as fire is seen in the trailer. International Business Times, on the other hand, said the trailer emphasized modernization.
ABC News earlier reported about the promotional photo error of "Downton Abbey," as a modern water bottle is seen on the mantle behind the Earl of Grantham, played by Hugh Bonneville and Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael). The press photo has been removed from PBS' web site. The error certainly will not stop the series from making it big as it comes out full.
What secrets are they talking about? Will Downton burn down? And who is Jimmy's mystery woman? Find out as "Downton Abbey" season 5 airs on September 21 in the U.K. at ITV, and on January 15, 2015 in the U.S. at PBS.
