A movie theatre chain based in Texas banned queen of pop Madonna for rudely texting during a premiere screening.
Madonna attended the New York Film Festival premiere of "12 Years A Slave" last week. However, while seated during the film, Madonna kept texting --something that annoyed other moviegoers.
Celebrity gossip website PageSix reported that when the movie began "a blonde in black lace gloves wouldn't stop texting," as she sat in a row with Jason Ritter, J. Alexander and Michael K. Williams. Apparently, it was none other than the queen of pop.
Madonna was asked to stop and answered, according to the report, "It's for business ... enslaver!"
After the movie, Madonna quickly dashed out of the theater. However, it seemed that the Material Girl was a big fan of the film and its creator that when Madonna heard director Steve McQueen's voice as he began a Q&A session, she was heard saying, "I want to hear Steve speak." Madonna dashed right back inside the cinema for the Q&A, according to the source of the report.
The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain strictly enforces no-talking and anti-texting policy in its theaters and would escort any violators outside the cinema. Thus, when Alamo founder and CEO Tim League heard about the incident, he tweeted that Madonna is banned to watch in the theater chain unless she "apologizes to the movie fans."
Entertainment Weekly bravely asked League if he was serious in banning the queen of pop Madonna in the theater chain. "Yeah, I'm serious, but I don't think it really affects her life that much," League told the showbiz publication.
The report continued that League once said that his initial tweet was an "offhand joke, a spur of the moment 140 characters" and was "more of a means to get the issue out there, that it is rude to text during movies."
"But now that it seems to have taken hold, sure, I'm going to enforce it," he said.
Madonna's camp has not commented yet on the allegations.
