The elevator fight between rapper, Jay Z, and Beyonce's sister, Solange, was all anyone could talk about when it happened in May. According to Matthew Knowles, Beyonce and Solange's dad, that was exactly what the power couple's team wanted to happen.

Mr. Knowles made the claims over 104.1 KRBE's Roula & Ryan show and said the whole incident was staged and merely a "Jedi mind trick" to promote ticket sales of their summer tour, "On The Run."

"I know, because we've done this. From experience, there's a tour going on," said the estranged dad who was Beyonce's former manager. "So you sometimes have to ignite that tour. It's called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot."

When asked if he really thinks they'd go to such lengths, "All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200%!"

The incident happened at Standard Hotel in New York where the three attended an after-party for the annual Met Gala on May 5. A video captured from the elevator CCTV camera was leaked, showing Solange attacking Jay Z as Beyonce watched on. Since then, rumors have been swirling that there's trouble in paradise and the pair were headed for divorce.

A joint statement was released to the Associated Press that said:

"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

A second statement was released, shutting down rumors that Solange was supposedly drunk during the infamous confrontation in the elevator.

"The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."

Destiny's Child Reunion Soon?

What else did Knowles reveal? He said that a Destiny's Child reunion tour is definitely a possibility.

"I still am the manager of Destiny's Child," said Knowles. "And when you see Destiny's Child on TV and see them doing songs together, slowly - now they've done two, they were recently on TV - I don't know, [there] might be another Destiny's Child album coming. There might be this tour that makes history, that's Destiny's Child featuring Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle. Can you imagine what that would be like?"
