From Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Hollywood's reigning power couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, have tied the knot in secret on August 23, Saturday, officially becoming Mr. and Mrs. Pitt.
After getting engaged in April of 2012, they have finally taken the plunge and had a very intimate wedding in France.
The Associated Press made the announcement over Twitter writing: "BREAKING: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married Saturday in France, says a spokesman for the couple."
The wedding, which was held in the chapel on the groups of Chateau Miraval, was attended by only 22 people, 6 of which were the couple's children, according to multiple reports.
The couple's very private ceremony featured a great deal of participation from their kids. USA Today revealed: "Jolie walked the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10. Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw petals. Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers."
An insider told Mail Online that the chosen top secret wedding date has a very special meaning for Jolie and Pitt. "The couple decided to marry at the stunning estate they bought in 2011 after Angelina made a promise to wed in France to her mother - and also to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the filming of Mr & Mrs Smith, where they met and fell in love," said the news site.
E! News reported that the "Maleficent" star looked radiant on her special day, donning a classic white dress. The designer hasn't been revealed but the source described the gown as "very traditional, but very Angie, it was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk."
The wedding rings, on the other hand, were designed by Robert Procop, as confirmed by E! News.
Jolie and Pitt, according to Mail Online, were said to have obtained a marriage license from a California-based judge who is the same official to preside over their ceremony in France.
The long-time couple have long since delayed their wedding for political reasons, mainly to show their support for gay marriage.
"We'd actually like to [get married] and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment," quoted The Hollywood Reporter of Brad in the past.
This isn't the first marriage for both stars. Jolie was previously wed to actors Jonny Lee Miller as well as Billy Bob Thornton while Pitt is divorced to "Friends" alum, Jennifer Aniston.
