An 11-year-old boy from Central Texas won the kids cooking competition "Rachael vs Guy Kids Cook-Off".

Brandon Scawthorn from Kyle, Texas gained national attention by winning the very first kids cook-off competition hosted by Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri.

Brandon said that he first stepped into the kitchen at a very young age when his mother allowed him to help in the kitchen. "She would let me stir and add ingredients and pretty soon I could make a full meal for my family," Brandon said.

Brandon was chosen as a finalist after he made it to the shortlist during audition. Then, the family was flown to Los Angeles for The Food Network's "Rachael vs Guy Kids Cook-Off" show.

Brandon was the youngest contestant in the competition and ended up beating older kids. Brandon proved to be a strong contender when he showed that it is possible to cook a quick and easy meal in less than 20 minutes. Rachael Ray may have found her arch-nemesis when it comes to fast cooking.

Proud of being a Texan, Brandon says throughout the competition he drew his inspiration from Texas cuisine. "I always like cooking steaks or any types of barbecue," Brandon said.

In his interview after winning the competition, he said that his favorite part of the competition was when he was "cooking and always being timed on everything, because it was so exciting and fun at the same time. My least favorite thing was screwing up because that really gets me off track."

When the fifth grader was asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he said: "I'm thinking between being a racecar driver and being a chef." Brandon is also fond of racing cars and join competitions as well. However, due to his recent success in TV, he is aiming to be a chef.

Part of Brandon's prize is his own "webisode series" on FoodNetwork.com that are now airing online.
