Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" performance at the MTV VMAs 2014 was warmly received by fans.
When she was introduced by "Royals" singer, Lorde, giving a hint that Taylor's "1989" album would mark a brand "new era" for the country singer, she did not disappoint.
The 24-year-old singer and songwriter started her performance as if she's the classic Marilyn Monroe, alongside her male ensemble. When the 1989 set background sign came looming in, it gave a clue that the audience will be seeing a different Taylor Swift this time around, reports Philly.
Taylor, who wore a metallic fringe outfit, made her performance extra special by pulling a few tricks here and there. Towards the end of her performance, she was supposed to jump from a high portion of the stage but she said, "I'm not jumping off of there. People getting bit by snakes, it's ridiculous," it turned out hilarious enough to get a few laughs from the crowd, states Rolling Stone.
In fact, one of the most memorable reactions to Swift's cute but awkward performance was that of Miley Cyrus. Her screen captured facial reaction on the pop country star's production number created a lot of buzz online.
The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer has performed for the popular MTV awards show in 2010, 2012 and this year, 2014.
Hollywood Life adds that Swift's latest track is about her former flame, Harry Styles and rumored new girlfriend Kendall Jenner, who happens to be in the event as well.
She confirmed her performance on the 2014 VMAs when she appeared as guest at "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on August 14. Fans will be happy to know that Taylor is reportedly preparing for another world tour.
"She is putting together tour plans and dates that will mostly materialize next year, early next year to support the album," Hollywood Life's source said. "She is looking to do a complete world tour."
Taylor's 2014 VMA performance was filled with numerous bird's eye view shots and gymnastic stunts. It certainly was a big throwback vibe with her body shaking moves that was marked as one of the most memorable performances of the night.
Her new album "1989" is set to be released on October 27 and many are guessing that she will be back as a nominee in next year's VMAs.
Is Swift's new song, "Shake it Off," the beginning of her journey towards the pop genre?
