iPad 5 release date will take place on October 22, according to a report by AllThingsD.

The report cited people familiar with Apple's plans, saying that the tech giant will hold an invitation-only launch event on the aforementioned date. The refreshed iPads - iPad 5 and iPad Mini - will take the center stage during the event. However, the report also noted that Apple will also introduce the new MacBook Pro, Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks on the date. The venue for the event is still unspecified.

It is worth noting that this alleged iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 release date will coincide with Nokia's Innovation Reinvented event and the debut of Surface 2 to retailers. Previous rumours claimed that the iPad 5 release date will be held on October 15.

The new rumored iPad 5 may showcase a tablet with a 13-inch screen size. The rumour emerged after reports claimed that Apple is testing larger screen displays for its upcoming devices.

iPad 5 is rumoured to pack features such as a faster 64-bit A7 processor chip and M7 graphics chip. The device is also said to include a fingerprint sensor like the iPhone 5S. A 5MP rear shooter, an internal storage up to 128GB, and a slimmer bezel much like the iPad Mini are to be expected from the new tablet as well.

Meanwhile, the iPad Mini 2 is still expected to have a 7.9 inches retina display and packed with a 64-bit A7 processor and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Consumers can also expect the refreshed MacBook Pro 2013 and OS X Mavericks to officially roll out. MacBook Pro 2013 is expected to be powered by Intel's Haswell processor and to pack new and exciting features.

However, Apple still has not confirmed this rumoured release date. The specs and features are also still unconfirmed.
