Miley Cyrus' concert in the Dominican Republic scheduled on September 13 has been banned by the local government on morality grounds. The 21-year-old's slated performance would have been her first in the country.

According to local news outlet Hoy via E! Online, the Dominican Republic's national entertainment and radio commission (CNEPR) ruled in such a manner because "Cyrus performs 'acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.'"

Cyrus' concerts under her "Bangerz Tour" have been met with a lot of controversy as many feel that they are filled with sexually charged performances and scantily clad clothing.

E! Online cited Hoy's poll about the decision not to let Cyrus perform in the country. The survey showed that 64% of participants agreed with the ruling while those who opposed the ban believe it's a censorship of one's freedom of expression.

Tickets for the concert were sold beginning July, with prices ranging from $27 to $370. It was supposed to be held at Santo Domingo, the nation's capital.

Mixed reactions to Cyrus' performances aren't anything new. It was only last year when she made waves for her "Blurred Lines" performance with Robin Thicke during the Video Music Awards. Some of her more "vulgar" acts seen during the performance include grinding, pelvic thrusts with a foam finger, which were all done as she wore a skin-tight, nearly nude outfit.

Cyrus isn't the first international star to be banned from performing in certain countries, per Forbes. Other celebrities who have standing bans include: "Lady Gaga (Malaysia), Oasis (China), Amy Winehouse (USA), 50 Cent (Canada), Snoop Dogg (UK AND Australia), and Chris Brown (UK)," noted the site.

Cyrus' camp has yet to issue a response or statement on the said ban.

In other news, Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" music video has dethroned the "Wrecking Ball" singer's record for most views within 24 hours. Per Yahoo! Music, Minaj's newly released video scored 19.6 million views, officially trumping Cyrus' 19.3 million previous record for "Wrecking Ball" back in September 2013.

Vevo announced the feat via its Twitter page writing: "@NICKIMINAJ #Anaconda broke the #24hrVevoRecord w/ 19.6M views! https://bit.ly/1v5H1oT How you gonna celebrate, Nic?"

"WE BROKE THE RECORD BABY!!!!! Anaconda Video 19.6 million views in 24 hrs!!!! :)," tweeted Nicki immediately after.

Catch rapper Minaj perform during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Cyrus will not be performing but she will be attending the event, according to reports.
