The controversial Texas Governor Rick Perry is making headlines again, this time for stating that ISIS terrorists may be in the United States, and would have entered through Mexico's border. His statements come on the heels of the indictments against the politician last week, and just days after the release of the mugshot heard 'round the world.

In his latest comment, Perry said ISIS terrorists could already be operating in the country and that they would entered through the porous Mexican border. Perry admits that there is “no clear evidence” of such an occurence, but maintains that the nation should be addressing the border crisis as a matter of national security.

He said there is a great concern that terrorists are exploiting the border crisis, stating that Texas has seen historic levels of individuals from countries with terrorist ties recently, including three Ukrainians arrested on a ranch in West Texas in the past two months.

“I’ll give you one anecdotal picture of what’s happening: Three Ukrainian individuals were apprehended in a ranch in far west Texas within the last 60 days," he said, according to Business Insider.

There is little evidence that Ukraine has strong terrorist ties, but the Governor assertions that the threat is indeed real.

“I think there is the obvious, great concern that — because of the condition of the border from the standpoint of it not being secure and us not knowing who is penetrating across — that individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states could be,” Perry said during a conference on border security in New York on Thursday.

Because the border is insecure, Perry said that “individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states could be” taking advantage of the situation, according to CNN.

“I think it's a very real possibility that they may have already used that,” he told an audience at the Heritage Foundation in Washington.

Despite Perry's concerns, the U.S. State Department claims that the threats Perry is claiming are thus far not credible.

“There are no known international terrorist organizations operating in Mexico, and there is no evidence that any terrorist group has targeted U.S. citizens in Mexican territory,” according to the U.S. State Department.

Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby told CNN on Friday that there was no evidence that the terrorist group is sending operatives across the southern border.

"I’ve seen no indication that they are coming across the border with Mexico," Kirby said on "New Day." "We have no information that leads us to believe that. That said, we do know they have aspirations to hit western targets, and it's something...we've got to take seriously and we have to try and be ready for it."
