The iPhone 6, which could be launched in just a few more weeks is reportedly causing grief for developers. The new operating system IOS 8 is becoming a problem for app developers, according to reports.
It's the testing of the new apps that's presenting the major problem, because Apple is trying to build an entire new system for the way all of their products work together, from laptop to smartphone to TV. Also, there's the possible need to build apps for multiple phones, as the two new iPhones that will come in different sizes.
There are 9 million developers who create apps and they have no idea what they're working with in terms of Apple's new system, says CNBC.
"It's a big headache, but there's also a lot of opportunities that come with it," Matt Johnston, who heads the app testing company Applause, said to CNBC. "Developers are no longer testing their application in a silo," he remarked, adding that, "They are having to test their application and how it interacts with this TV and other third-party apps."
Those third-party apps will have to work with new offerings such as the Homekit app, managing home technology, and HealthKit, which handles your wearables and tracks your healthcare.
There will be a learning curve for app developers, reports said. And not every app will adjust perfectly to Apple's new "Internet of Things" model. However, the apps being developed are expected with certain new elements of Apple's iOS system including the Touch ID feature. That's the feature that debuted in the latest iPhone, which allows apps to authenticate a user ahead of allowing access to the phone or iPad.
Another feature apps made for iOS 8 are expected to work with is the brand new "actionable notification" function.
Think of Apple's latest most talked-about feature as a walkie-talkie feature, which allows users to reply to messages or push notifications even if the home screen is locked. It allows interaction without the need to open the app. Most app developers are just pushing for the best, since they know users are quick to complain or abandon and app if it doesn't work in a new release.
