Missing Marine wife Erin Corwin's body was found Sunday, 140 feet down a mine shaft near Joshua Tree National Park, and authorities say more arrests are possible now that she has been located.

The person at the center of the case, her alleged lover Christopher Brandon Lee, 24, was arrested about 10 p.m. Sunday in Anchorage on suspicion of killing the 19-year-old. He moved there after investigators began to question his role in the missing woman's disappearance.

Search crews found her body the day before his arrest in the mine shaft, authorities said.

However, San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos said Monday that there is potential for more arrests as the investigation continues, in light of the recent discovery of Corwin's body.

Christopher Lee's wife is also believed to be in Alaska, said Cindy Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, and Lee is the only suspect in custody at this time.

According to the warrant, Lee's wife scolded Lee and called him dumb for "not being able to keep his lies straight" while talking to detectives.

Authorities say Corwin and Christopher Lee began having an affair in February.

Authorities said Monday they are awaiting autopsy results to confirm whether she was pregnant.

Lee's name became associated with the case of the missing Marine wife after court documents showed on the day she disappeared, 20-year-old Erin Corwin had planned to meet with Christopher Brandon Lee to spend a "special day together" on a hunting trip.

Corwin, who was reportedly three months pregnant, was last last seen around 7 a.m. on June 28 at the Twentynine Palms home she shared with her husband, Lance Cpl. Jonathan Corwin.

Her Marine husband told investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department that his wife was setting out to explore Joshua Tree National Park in anticipation of an upcoming family visit.

Jonathan Corwin reported his wife missing the next day. Police located her 2013 Toyota Corolla in Twentynine Palms two days later, on June 30.

According to court documents obtained by the Desert Sun, detectives believe the day trip was actually meant to celebrate Corwin's pregnancy, but that Lee was concerned his wife would learn of his affair.

The announcement ends a roughly eight-week search effort for Corwin, who has been the subject of national headlines over the two months she's been missing.

According to reports, technology-driven information led investigators to an area with three mining districts. Crews began searching the bottom of the mines on Saturday and found the body of a woman, but they were unable to reach the area.

They returned on Sunday and removed the body that evening. A forensic odontologist used dental records to identify the body as Corwin.
