It seems like it's now uncommon for children to not have a smart phone, and more often than not, they aren't the ones who pay for said phones; their parents do. Apparently for a lot of parents, just getting their kids to call them or text them back in a timely manner is near impossible, because what teenager wants to talk to their parents, right? Ugh.

Enter Sharon Standifird, a Houston, Texas mom who could not get her children to respond to her calls or texts. So, she decided to take control. Accoring to BGR, Sharon took the initiative where few other parents without much tech savvy would or could, and she began researching how to build an app that could somehow usurp control of unresponsive teenagers phones.

I got on the internet and I literally just started researching how to develop an app," she explained.

Standifird succeeded, and the result is Ignore No More, an app (currently only available for Android, though an iOS version is in development) that allows parents to remotely lockdown their kids' phones until the children call their parent back. And until a child does return their parent's call, they can't use any apps or browse the web. They are simply restricted to either calling 911 in case of an emergency, or their parents, of course. It's absolutely brilliant.

The app is currently available in the Google Play Store and costs $1.99.

"We need to develop an app that just shuts their phone completely down and they can't even use it," Standifird said.

According to the app's website, it can't be disabled. Interested parents should visits the site's FAQ section which outlines exactly how the app works in all the various scenarios a parent might expect to encounter with an digitally unresponsive teenager or child.

"It takes away texting, it takes away gaming, it takes away calling their friends, surfing the Internet. If there's an emergency, the child will always be able to call 911. It's a feature that no developer can take off the phone," explains Standifird.

And yes, Standifird says she has used the app on her own children, and it works. BGR reports that "after installing the app on her sons's phone she discovered that he returns her calls and texts a lot faster than he used to.
