After evading authorities for a week, Jon Koppenhaver, also known as War Machine, has been captured in a Simi Valley hotel room, according to a statement released by the Simi Valley Police Department. Reports say that War Machine was captured without incident, and was found with a "small amount of cash and some pizza."
War Machine is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, adult film star actress Christy Mack, in her Las Vegas home. Mack posted pictures of her injuries to Twitter sparking a public outcry on how severe the assault looked.
"I have no recollection of how many times I was hit, I just know my injuries that resulted from my beating," Mack wrote. "My injuries include 18 broken bones around my eyes, my nose is broken in 2 places, I am missing teeth and several more are broken. I am unable to chew, or see out of my left eye."
War Machine has maintained throughout the manhunt that Mack's story is not the only version that should be listened too. He took to Twitter to voice his plea for fairness and urge fans to wait until the whole story is out. "The cops will never give me fair play, never believe me. Still deciding what to do but at the end of the day it's all just heart breaking," War Machine wrote.
It's unclear what more of the story could swing in War Machines favor. He has stated numerous times that he had to "fight for his life," after entering Mack's home at 4 a.m. "I'm not a bad guy, I went to surprise my gf, help her set up her show and to give her an engagement ring and ended up fighting for my life," he posted.
So far the evidence looks pretty condemning for War Machine, especially with his history of assault and profession of being a mixed martial arts fighter. Bellator MMA quickly cut ties with War Machine due to their zero tolerance policy on domestic violence. With no more sponsors, War Machine's career in the ring looks to be over. The MMA scene is extremely protective about who they let represent their sport. And right now the perception is that War Machine harms the brand far more than he helps it.
